Fireplace Valley: A Symphony of Space and Man

Jing Zhou's Award-Winning Design Merges Folkways and Innovation

The design inspiration for Fireplace Valley is deeply rooted in the local culture of Yangshuo. The designers have incorporated the lively folkways of night fishing, known as lightfishing, into the spatial symphony of the center. The reception area features light fixtures that employ traditional bamboo weaving techniques of Guilin, creating a connection between the space and its cultural roots.

What sets Fireplace Valley apart is its unique interaction between space and man. The entrance to the sales center features a creamy-white marble background with a half-arc, purple landscape marble that emulates the form of a small boat. This design element serves as a visual metaphor for the beauty of Guilin, inviting visitors to embark on a journey through the aesthetic realm of the center.

The realization of this design was achieved through a variety of innovative techniques. The skylight of the negotiation area, for example, is made of fishing net, forming a large, breathable, and lively environment sculpture. The mezzanine on the second floor is decorated with gradually whitening glass, creating an effect reminiscent of hillside fog or the misty surface of the Lijiang River.

Despite the challenges of creating a resort project with specific insight, preference, and distinction, the design team managed to create a space that focuses on “holiday” lifestyles. The Fireplace Valley offers an unprecedented lifestyle that leads people to an emotional field and awakens them to cherish friendship.

Fireplace Valley is not just a design project, but a celebration of the beauty of Guilin. The design was awarded Golden in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to its outstanding and trendsetting creation that reflects the designer's prodigy and wisdom. This award is granted to designs that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
